East Northumberland SS has had a rich 40+ year history of offering top-notch outdoor education programming for its students. Our current outdoor education program has courses in both grade 11/12 (double credit) and grade 10 (single credit). Participants could spend up to a total of eight days on two separate backcountry canoe trips and enjoy a host of other day trip opportunities (i.e., indoor rock climbing, tree top trekking, snowshoeing, hiking, etc.).
Students will also get a chance to work towards earning several industry certifications, which include: ORCKA Basic Canoeing Level 1, Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR, WHMIS, Leave No Trace, Wilderness First Aid, & Green Check GPS.
So, if you’re an outdoor person at heart and want to earn high school credits for spending time outside, the outdoor education program at ENSS might just be the perfect fit for you!
